By using a specially constructed cone and the fixed point index theory, this paper investigates the existence of multiple positive solutions for the third-order three-point singular semipositone BVP: \begin{cases} x'''(t)-\ld f(t,x) =0, &t\in(0,1); [.3pc] x(0)=x'(\eta)=x''(1)=0, & \end{cases} where 1/2<η<1{1/2}<\eta<1, the non-linear term f(t,x):(0,1)\times(0,+\i)\to (-\i,+\i) is continuous and may be singular at t=0t=0, t=1t=1, and x=0x=0, also may be negative for some values of tt and xx, \ld is a positive parameter.Comment: 14 page

AbstractIn this paper, by a specially constructed cone and the fixed point index theory, we investigate the existence of multiple positive solutions for the following singular semipositone problem: y″+λf(t,y)=0,t∈(0,1),y(0)=y(1)=0. The nonlinear term f(t,y) may be singular at t=0, t=1, and y=0, also may be negative for some values of t and y; and λ is a positive parameter

Nodal Solutions for Some Second-Order Semipositone Integral Boundary Value Problems

    Get PDF
Using bifurcation techniques, we first prove a global bifurcation theorem for nonlinear second-order semipositone integral boundary value problems. Then the existence and multiplicity of nodal solutions of the above problems are obtained. Finally, an example is worked out to illustrate our main results

The Expanded Electrodeionization Method for Sewage Reclamation

    Get PDF
The aim of the chapter is to introduce a new technology using the flow-divided electrodes for sewage reclamation based on redox and concentrating ions. This creative system can be used directly for sewage treatment without the need for costly ion-exchange membranes and other chemical reagents. Under experimental conditions, the removal percentage of TDS (total dissolved salts) is 83 %and the removal percentage of COD (chemical oxygen demand) is 92 %

Fluctuation characteristics and rolling control for an underactuated spherical underwater exploration robot

    Get PDF
Compared with other underwater exploration robots, Spherical underwater robot has an outstanding advantage for the underwater exploration, whose spherical shell has the excellent resiliency to protect the internal electronic components. In addition, this steering resistance is very small to move flexibly. In this paper, a type of spherical underwater robot with the pendulums and a propeller was studied on moving at the water bottom in a rolling manner. The structure and force were analyzed to understand that the hydrodynamic force’s affection on the robot’s rolling at the water bottom. A mathematical model was established with the mass parameters and speeding parameters. The virtual simulation environment was established in Adams software. Furthermore, the coupling fluctuation characteristics of the speed, swing angle and the torque were studied by the simulation and the experiment in a pool. The study proved that this robot not only can use the propeller to move in water, but also can roll at the water bottom by driving the spherical shell. Especially, the result also can be obtained that the robot can roll at water bottom stably by increasing the pendulum mass and lowering the motor speed

Robust set stabilization of Boolean control networks with impulsive effects

    Get PDF
This paper addresses the robust set stabilization problem of Boolean control networks (BCNs) with impulsive effects via the semi-tensor product method. Firstly, the closed-loop system consisting of a BCN with impulsive effects and a given state feedback control is converted into an algebraic form. Secondly, based on the algebraic form, some necessary and sufficient conditions are presented for the robust set stabilization of BCNs with impulsive effects under a given state feedback control and a free-form control sequence, respectively. Thirdly, as applications, some necessary and sufficient conditions are presented for robust partial stabilization and robust output tracking of BCNs with impulsive effects, respectively. The study of two illustrative examples shows that the obtained new results are effective

By using the fixed point theorem on cone, some sufficient conditions are obtained on the existence of positive periodic solutions for a class of n-species competition systems with impulses. Meanwhile, we point out that the conclusion of Yan, 2009 is incorrect

Application of Heterogeneous Catalysts in Dechlorination of Chlorophenols

    Get PDF
Chlorophenols (CPs) is a very important kind of basic organic chemical intermediates such as sanitizers, germicides, insecticides and so on; but CPs also constitutes a particular group of priority pollutants that widely distribute in wastewater and the polluted groundwater. Because of their acute toxicity, persistence and low biodegradability, their emissions have been progressively restricted by strong legal regulations. In this chapter, we focused on methods for degrading of CPs recent years, especially by using new heterogeneous catalytic hydrogenation methods to the dechlorination of CPs. The purpose is to introduce scientific research workers and companies to waste water treatments in order to inspire and further better protect the environment

    XML conceptual modeling with XUML

As XML has become the standard format for representing structured and semi-structured data on the Web, the methods for designing XML schemas is becoming more and more important. XML schemas represent the logical models of the documents. In order to design or integrate XML schemas, it is necessary to first design the conceptual structures with a proper conceptual model. We thus specify a XML conceptual model, XUML, which has following characteristics comparing with the existing XML conceptual models: 1) expressing the containment semantics more explicitly; 2) supporting the concept of Business Components; 3) specifying the data dependencies in multiple contexts. XUML is defined based on the UML2 standard, so it will be more friendly and practical for those who have had knowledge and experience on UML. Based on XUML, we further present a framework of the methodology which is dedicated to the design of XML documents and XML databases. In this paper, the focus is put on XUML.
